Japotech Solutions was incorporated on 3rd December 2016, but started operating on 1st March 2017 opening its first office on Plot 19, Bukoto Street, Kamwokya, Kampala. The company started in a very turbulent industry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) with a focus on delivery high quality and cost-effective telecom, IT and training services; using world class processes and local talent.

The journey was really not easy at all. The ICT industry in Uganda, just like in many countries, was and is still full of several international multi-million-dollar companies that have existed for decades. Many people wondered what can a fresh, young, small company do in such a turbulent industry? The directors resolved to focus on longevity of the business, and building a profit model, that ensures sustainability. Today, the company which employs about 30 people, is celebrating five years in existence!

It has not been as easy as a walk in the park. The first projects executed by the company were full of lessons. One of the key turning points was Japotech being considered for coaching and mentorship as part of International Trade Center (ITC’s) Netherlands Trust Fund IV (NTFIV) project. We thank the NTFIV project for supporting Japotech with trainings, business development and hand holding Japotech for three years.

Japotech has since become ISO9001 certified, registered with National Information Technology Authority of Uganda (NITA-U), Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB), Uganda Investment Authority (UIA); amongst other compliance registrations with URA, KCCA, PPDA and NSSF. Japotech has since become a member of Alliance for Trade in Information Technology and Services (ATIS).

The company has severed several customers in Uganda notably MTN, Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Smile Communications, Vodafone (Afrimax), Ubuntu Towers; as well as international customers in the United States, Spain, Italy, Morocco and Niger. We are very grateful to our customers for the support.

Our story cannot be complete without recognizing the contribution of our hardworking and committed staff who live the company values of Relationships, Integrity, Passion, Excellence and Recognition, code named R.I.P.E.R. We thank all the staff for their great contribution towards the growth of Japotech. We are building a brand that will last for decades if not centuries; from which several people will benefit.

Our next five years will be full of action and results. We aim at entrenching our presence on the Ugandan market, in all regions. Then Uganda shall become a launch pad to the International markets especially East Africa and Europe. The Japotech story is just beginning!
